Building a Home for Little Warriors in Nepal
Nyano Angalo sets himself the challenge of building a sustainable house, with the help of BuildingBureau, that serves as a refuge for little warriors who are going through an illness and their families. We cannot allow a lack of resources to prevent them from receiving the medical care they deserve.
purpose of the house
The house will serve as a refuge for little warriors going through illness and their families. It will be a place to stay while they require medical attention in Kathmandu, where the only pediatric hospital in the country is located.
The construction of this house aims to prevent the lack of resources from preventing access to medical care for those children in rural areas who need it.
The little warriors and their families will be the direct beneficiaries of this house. We want to provide them with a safe, welcoming and sustainable home where they can find strength and mutual support. We are committed to offering health access opportunities to those children and their families whose home is far from the capital and require medical care at the Kathmandu Public Pediatric Hospital.
In collaboration with BuildingBureau
To be able to build a home for the little warriors who are going through a disease process in Nepal. We have established a collaboration with BuildingBureau, a sustainable construction organization that will provide support during the construction process of the Nyano Angalo Ko Ghar, translated into Spanish as “The Home of the Warm Embrace”. Our goal is to try to provide the greatest sustainability to all our projects, which is why the alliance with BuildingBureau is key; Together we want to build a house that will combine sustainable design with eco-friendly practices.
¿What is BuildingBureau?
“At their best, buildings support communities by being practical and durable, beautiful and environmentally friendly. Building Bureau is a nonprofit organization based in the United States and Nepal that uses architecture to advance missions of public institutions, taking advantage of design to generate social impact and promote care of the built environment”
Construction of a Sustainable House
Our house for the little warriors will be built using local materials and eco-friendly construction techniques. The structure will be designed to withstand Nepal’s challenging climates and provide a safe and welcoming space.
Why build in an Eco-friendly way vs. red brick construction?
Red brick construction:
- 37% of CO2 emissions in Nepal are produced by the combustion required by common clay bricks (World Bank)
- Promotes child labor and poor working conditions (UNICEF, ILO)
Eco-friendly construction: “Rammed Earth”
- They have bioclimatic properties since they maintain a relatively stable temperature inside throughout the year.
- Therefore, it is an energy efficient construction, it does not require systems that heat or cool the spaces.
- Low transportation costs, the material to build the Tapial is local, it uses land available at the construction site
- It is a construction technique that minimizes the environmental impact and greenhouse gas emissions: one of the main postulates of Sustainable Architecture
Support and Resources
To complete this project successfully, we need your support. We are looking for financial support, donations that can make it possible for this house to exist. Any help you can provide will make a big difference in the lives of these little warriors. Join us on this mission and be part of the positive change we are making in Nepal!
